“Fish Tales: 75 Years of Casting Storylines “is the autobiography of well-known fisherman Bill Dance. The work is co-written with Taylor Wilson and tells the story of Dance’s life in a short-story format. It also acclaims the sport of fishing and Dance’s love for it. Dance is a dyed-in-the-wool prankster, and many of the tales are about pranks, sometimes elaborate, that he played on friends or were played on him. The account is divided into several sections, including Dance’s life in his hometown, his family, the escapades he’s been involved in, and his experience in fishing tournaments. There are numerous photographs of Dance and his friends and family and of course, photos of Dance with the fish that he has caught. Dance has also been the host of two long-running TV shows about fishing, and this is his eighth publication.
“Fish Tales” is a delightful read. This book will make readers laugh out loud in one chapter and then tug at their emotional heartstrings in the next. Readers don’t have to be anglers to appreciate Bill Dance’s narrative. Everyone who likes a good tale, superbly told, will enjoy it. Dance doesn’t hesitate to tell stories about himself, and his self-deprecating humor adds much of the charm to his book. If Dance’s readers enjoy playing pranks, they’ll even get ideas about some to play on friends. Dance’s life has revolved around fishing and family, and his love for both is evident throughout. I highly recommend it to everyone, young, old, or in between, who wants to read well-written, fun, and heart-lifting stories.
